Too Much AI, Not Enough "I"

In a world run by algorithms and automation, it’s easier than ever to outsource everything - from meal planning to creative writing. AI is everywhere, helping us move faster, work smarter, and get more done.

But here’s the strange part:

The more we automate, the more disconnected we feel.

The Overstimulation Paradox

A 2024 report by DataReportal revealed:

Indians now spend an average of 3.5 hours/day on social media – one of the highest in the world.
That’s over 50 full days a year just scrolling.

And yet, we often say, “ I’m bored. ”

You’re not bored. You’re overstimulated.

You’ve given your mind everything - except what it actually needs.

The Forgotten Language of the Hands

What we’re missing is not more speed or more input. We’re missing slow, deliberate, tactile experiences. Moments that require nothing but our hands, our focus, and our breath.

A study by Drexel University found that just 45 minutes of art-making can lower cortisol (stress hormone) levels significantly, even in non-artists.

As poet Mary Oliver once wrote:

“To pay attention, this is our endless and proper work.”

Or in Rumi’s words:

“Don’t try to rush things that need time to grow.”

The “I” That’s Left Behind

At PlayKree, we’re not anti-AI. But we are pro-human.

We design hands-on, culturally rooted kits that invite you to unplug, explore, and make something real. Whether it’s tracing a peony, dotting a scroll, or coloring a tiger with your kid on a Sunday afternoon -

You’re not just doing art.

You’re remembering how to be with yourself.

So here’s a thought:

Next time you feel like you’re “wasting time” doing nothing, try picking up a pen instead of a phone.

Create a small mess. A small masterpiece.

Because AI may write for you. But it can’t wonder for you!

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”Marcel Proust

Footnote: The cover image for this blog, is one of the pages we love from the book - Rumi - Poet of Joy and Love by Rashin Kheiriyeh. Rather than going for an AI-generated one, we thought to share something more meaningful. The scene, beautifully painted by the artist, captures the joy of 'just being'! Just being!
